This year, the Christmas season at RSM has been filled with joy, music, laughter, and wonderful community spirit. We’ve had so much fun celebrating with our members and friends, and enjoyed some special events that made this season so memorable.
Carol Concert at St Deny’s Church
We kicked off our festivities with our traditional Carol Concert at St Deny’s Church. The church was filled with Angels thanks to the exhibition on show. The talented Rotherfield Primary School choir set the tone for the morning with a beautiful performance of two hymns. Another highlight of the concert was Year 9 student Molly’s stunning rendition of White Christmas. It was so good, we couldn’t resist singing it twice! After the concert, everyone enjoyed a delicious soup lunch, generously prepared and served by the church volunteers. It was the perfect way to gather together and celebrate.
Christmas Parties at Rotherfield Village Hall
On Monday December 9th, we gathered at Rotherfield Village Hall for our annual Christmas Party, and what a celebration it was! The hall was alive with the sound of local musicians and the energy of dancing — especially after a glass of mulled wine!
The festive cheer continued on Thursday 12th as our wonderful RSM volunteer cooks worked their magic in the kitchen, preparing and serving a magnificent Christmas lunch. We were truly spoiled, with a full house of smiling faces and a delicious meal shared among friends.
A special thank you to the volunteers both in the kitchen and front of house, and to The Kings Arms for preparing the turkey and gravy for us — it was much appreciated! Of course, no Christmas celebration would be complete without a visit from Father Christmas, who arrived after lunch and gave a small gift to each diner. The afternoon was filled with laughter, good food, and the warmth of being surrounded by friends and community.
Live Crib at Mayfield Girls School
To wrap up our festive season, we were invited to the Live Crib at Mayfield Girls School. The service was a beautiful way to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas, with a 6-week-old baby playing Jesus in the nativity scene. The service was followed by refreshments, and it was a peaceful and poignant way to end our holiday celebrations.
Looking Ahead
As we approach the end of the year, we would like to thank all our incredible volunteers, musicians, and everyone who made these events so special. It’s been a joy to celebrate with the RSM community, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year.
From all of us at RSM, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
