Dementia Action Week Round Up

One of Rotherfield St Martin’s objectives is to make our village “dementia friendly” so that those living with dementia and their carers feel comfortable, welcomed and accepted.

Well over 100 local residents and businesses have attended a dementia friends session at RSM.

Virtual Dementia Bus Visit

We were delighted to welcome the Virtual Dementia Bus Tour back for a second year to offer invited participants the opportunity to understand dementia.  Participants included unpaid carers, RSM volunteers, a social prescriber and others in our dementia care networks.

All said how powerful the sessions were and the invaluable insight made them think about how to help someone living with dementia in future..

Primary School Pupils Become Dementia Friends

Iona visited Rotherfield Primary School with our bears, Dudley and Daisy, to talk to the pupils about dementia and how it might affect someone.

She was very impressed by the questions and suggestions about how they might help someone.

Raising Awareness Around The Village

During May, you may have seen little information notes popped up around the village, giving insights about how someone living with dementia might feel.

We received an email from a visitor who said “thank you for raising awareness about this awful disease. My Dad has dementia and it helped seeing the notices”.
