RSM was honoured to welcome The Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, Mr. Andrew Blackman, on Monday, 10th March 2025, to present the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
This recognition highlights the incredible contributions of our volunteers and the positive impact we have within our local community.
In his speech, Mr. Blackman praised RSM for embodying the very spirit of the Kings Award. He emphasised that the charity exemplifies the values of volunteerism — fostering community, supporting those in need, and bringing people together to create a stronger, more compassionate society.
The ceremony was attended by over 100 RSM volunteers, members, and special guests who came together to celebrate this remarkable achievement. Among the distinguished guests were Jo Evans, the founder of RSM, who started the charity in 2004, and our Patron, The Marquis of Abergavenny.
We were also joined by local figures, including Wealden District Councillors Jessika Hulbert, Christina Coleman, and Michael Lunn, along with representatives from Rotherfield Parish Council, East Sussex Police, St Deny’s Church, and Rotherfield School.
Acknowledging Our Volunteers
The Kings Award for Voluntary Service is often described as the ‘MBE for volunteer groups,’ and it recognises the hard work and dedication of organisations like RSM that make a real difference in their communities. This award is a testament to the commitment of all our volunteers, whose tireless efforts allow us to continue providing services and support.
This award is not just for the team at RSM; it is for the entire Rotherfield community, who continue to inspire us every day.
We look forward to many more years of working together to support our local community, bring people closer, and make a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey. We couldn’t have done it without you!
